Rare pair of Early American cast iron Andirons 1790. See Wallace Nutting Furniture Treasure item 4068 for an example of the same pair. The listing in Nutting states " Rare Pair of Cast Andirons, One Is Welcome To Suppose Them To Be Any Fair Lady of The Olden Day. E. C. Hall, Longmeadow, Massachusetts." Each andiron measures 17 and one half inches high and 17 inches deep. One of the andirons has an old repair to its dogs.

French bronze plaque Lachasse by Stella. The scene depicts a bunch of men luring cats to be caught. Measures 13 and one quarter by 10 and one half inches. This is a 19th century recast from a work by Jacques Stella 1596-1657. It was a time when people thought cats were carring the plague, when it really was the rats. The killing of the cats, which were in fact killing the rats, let the plaque mulitply out of control.

Georgian period mahogany and satinwood knife box with panelled serpentine front c1790. This knife box was converted to a letter box many years ago, as so many were. It measures 15 and one half inches high, 12 inches deep and 9 inches wide. Decorative features include line inlay and conch shell inlay on the beaded lid, and a secret back drawer. Beautiful patina.
